Konga, or Kurunga as it was named in the middle ages, has since 1742 been a center for heavy industry. It started with blast-furnace-blowing and casting of moulds for cast iron stoves, to become solely a cast-iron foundry around the middle of 1800. Thereafter has Konga Bruk - thanks to it´s good availability of water-power, forrests and labour-force, and depending on the surrounding world changes, communications, trade conditions and owner circumstances - come to change it's line of goods which were produced. With products and know-how that today are in high demand form the international vehicle industry.
1742-1888 Örmo Bruk
Founded 1742 and the production cosisted of blast-furnace-blowing and mould casting. 1846 Frans Henrik Kockum bought Örmo Bruk. 1888 the production is moved to Kallinge.
1888-1943 Konga AB
1889 the factory started to produce paper pulp, but also sulphite alcohol. A railway was built between Konga-Bredåkra/Kallinge which was inaugurated 1896 and meant a great improvement for the factory. The factory was closed 1943.
1943-1957 Klippan AB
1944 a production of boxes was started and 1945 the production of prefabrikated houses started. 1956 the company was sold to Svenska Stålpressing AB Olofström where even a sawmill was included (this part was laid down 1964).
